To improve patient services, the Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (BERA) room will soon be available at the ENT department of Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital. Announcing this, the hospital’s medical superintendent, Dr V S Chauhan said that the facilities at the district hospital are continually being upgraded to benefit patients. “Once it becomes operational, it will address the medical requirements of a large number of patients who come here from far and near for ENT treatment,” he said.

He further stated that 90 per cent of the construction work for the BERA room has been completed. “Besides, we have procured equipment and the infrastructure building process is in the final stage. We expect that it will be operational by the end of May,” he added.

Speaking on its features, Dr Chauhan said that this room would help identify the percentage level of hearing impairment in individuals which would aid in the precise treatment process. “The BERA room will be available at the hospital during outpatient department (OPD) hours and services in the BERA room will be provided at CGHS rates,” he said.

He also shared that two ENT doctors from the hospital would be assigned to the BERA room.

Notably, a slew of service-enhancing initiatives have been recently taken at the district hospital for the benefit of patients and their attendees, including construction of a blood bank, a canteen for patients’ relatives and a multi-level parking facility.
