8.27 lakh farmers’ families receive Rs 165 crore in U’khand

PM, CM address citizens regarding agricultural reforms

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi digitally transferred a total of Rs 18,000 crore in the bank accounts of nine crore farmers’ families on Friday, 8.27 lakh farmers’ families in Uttarakhand also received a total of Rs 165 crore. On the occasion, the address of the PM and chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat were heard at a programme organised on Pavillion Ground here.

Addressing farmers and other citizens virtually on the birth anniversary of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he said that Vajpayee had dedicated his life to work for the nation. He had made good governance a part of the nation’s political and social discourse. Vajpayee was also one of those behind the new farm reforms enacted by the government now. Since the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi was launched, a total of more than Rs 1.10 lakh crore has been transferred to the accounts of farmers. The PM spoke about the various measures taken by the government in the interests of farmers so far. Referring to the farm laws, he said that with these better options have been provided to the farmers. Now the farmer can sell his produce wherever he wishes, wherever he gets proper rates. Farmers can sell in the Mandi or export their produce. They can also sell their produce in another state or sell it in bulk through FPO. Various rights have been provided to farmers now to sell their produce. Stating that some people are spreading disinformation about the new agricultural reforms, Modi reiterated that the government had executed the reforms keeping in mind the interests of the farmers.

Addressing the gathering virtually, the CM pointed out that due to the PM’s transparent attitude, each farmer is receiving Rs 6,000 annually under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi. He said that the farmers are moving ahead towards progress due to the agricultural reforms. The reforms have been made in order to achieve the target of doubling the income of farmers set by the PM. Those spreading disinformation about aspects like MSP are trying to dupe the farmers. Rawat spoke about the various measures being taken by the State government for the welfare of farmers. He reiterated that the state government is concerned about the farmers, adding that attempts to mislead the farmers will not be allowed to succeed. The CM also elaborated on various measures taken by the Central government to ensure the betterment of farmers.

While Union Agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar attended the programme virtually, those present at the event here included MP and BJP State co in-charge Rekha Verma, Vidhan Sabha speaker Prem Chand Aggarwal, Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal, MLAs Harbans Kapoor, Ganesh Joshi, Khajan Das, Munni Devi Shah, Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ and chief secretary Om Prakash.
