Questioning the decision of Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSC) to conduct the examination of Village Development Officer (VDO) and Social Development Officer at time when the Kanwad Yatra is at its peak, the Uttarakhand Congress has demanded that the commission should postpone the examination.

Interacting with the media persons at the Congress headquarters here on Thursday, the chief spokesperson of party Garima Dasauni said that these examinations were conducted on December 4 and 5, 2021 but were later cancelled due to irregularities and complaints of copying have now been rescheduled on July 9.

She said that due to the ongoing Kanwad Yatra, the commission has made the examination centres of candidates of Dehradun, Rishikesh and Haridwar at places which are very far away from their cities. “ The centres of some candidates are 200 to 250 kilometres away from their cities in Kashipur, Uttarkashi, Khatima and Haldwani. Since the Kanwad Yatra is in progress the candidates would have difficulty in travelling,’’ she said.

The Congress leader said that the unemployed would be forced to spend at least Rs 4000 to 5000 for reaching the examination centres.

She demanded that the commission should postpone these examinations and hold them after Mahashivratri.
