The Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal virtually inaugurated the operation of the first unit of India’s First Variable Speed Pumped Storage Plant in Tehri and applauded THDCIL’s achievement in putting this unit into operation. Earlier, THDCIL had announced the successful commencement of COD process of the unit (250 MW) of the 1000 MW Variable Speed PSP in Tehri.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister said that the successful operation of the unit in Tehri is not just a technological achievement by THDCIL but a stride towards India’s energy self-reliance.
A number of dignitaries from the Power sector was present on the occasion.
