2.5 Lakh patients visit OPD of AIIMS- Rishikesh in 2020

In a significant feat, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh has provided OPD facilities to 2.5 lakh patients in the last year. A total of 29000 patients were admitted in different wings of the hospital in the year. Last year, in March 2020, OPD services were shut down in most hospitals in the state during the nationwide lockdown due to the growing infection of the worldwide pandemic.

The Director of AIIMS- Rishikesh Ravikant said that despite the challenges of treating patients during the pandemic of Covid-19, the services continued in the institute.

“The emergency services were also kept open on all seven days a week for the convenience of patients. AIIMS doctors, nursing staff and other medical staff served patients like warriors, performing their duties,’’ he said.

The Dean Hospital Administration, U B Mishra said that during the pandemic the Covid-19 patients were accorded priority but treatment of compulsory and emergency patients was continued for twenty-four hours in AIIMS. He added that surgery of ten thousand patients suffering from various diseases was also successfully done in the institute.
