The Geology and Mining department sealed a total of 18 stone crushers during a three-day drive after receiving complaints regarding illegal mining, storage and transportation in various areas of Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital districts. An enforcement team of the Geology and Mining department was constituted which conducted inspections from January 27 to 29.
The team investigated 24 stone crushers out of which 18 were sealed by the department for various violations. Additional director Rajpal Legha informed that the team sealed 18 stone crushers after finding shortcomings during inspections and closed their E-Ravanna portal with immediate effect to prevent the sale and purchase of sub-minerals. The teams also measured the stored sub-minerals in the storage plants during the inspections. Legha said that the unit has also seized eight vehicles and would impose penalties on them accordingly.
