176 roads remain blocked in various parts of State

Two children dead after drowning in pond near Paithani

With the authorities working to reopen blocked roads even as rains, landslides and other factors continue to cause disruption, at least 176 roads were reported to be blocked on Sunday evening. Two children reportedly died after drowning in a pond in Paithani area of Pauri district on Sunday afternoon.

According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) data, the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 107 is open in Rudraprayag district though one State highway and 14 rural moto roads are blocked in the district. Two State highways, two main district roads and 29 rural motor roads are blocked in Pauri district while one State highway and 25 rural motor roads are blocked in the Dehradun district. The Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway 108 and Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway 94 were reported to be open in Uttarkashi district while one district road and eight rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. Three State highways, one main district road and 16 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Tehri district. In the Chamoli district the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 was open while the Karnprayag-Gwaldam motor road was closed due to washout near Shimalsain and two State highways, one district road, four other district roads and 31 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. Two rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Almora district while three State highways and 15 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Nainital district. Similarly, two rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Bageshwar district while one national highway border road and 11 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the Pithoragarh district.
