104 new cases of Covid-19 reported in U’khand

109260 people have been fully vaccinated for the disease in the state.

Amid fear of a second wave of Covid-19 in many states of the country the number of cases of the disease is increasing in Uttarakhand. For the second consecutive day on Monday the state health department reported more than 100 cases of the disease in a day. On Monday 104 new cases of Covid-19 were reported while 137 patients were reported on Sunday.

The state now has 98448 cumulative patients of the disease. Death of no patient was reported by the department on the day. The disease has so far claimed 1704 lives in the state. The authorities discharged 32 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery on Monday. A total of 94462 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far and the recovery percentage is now at 95.65 and the sample positivity rate is 3.75 percent.

The state health department reported 53 new cases of the disease from Dehradun, 41 from Haridwar, 15 from Udham Singh Nagar, 14 from Nainital, five from Chamoli, two each from Almora, Pauri and Tehri districts and one each from Bageshwar, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts on Monday. No new cases of the disease were reported from Champawat and Pithoragarh districts on the day. The state now has 861 active patients of the disease. Haridwar district is at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 306 patients, Dehradun has 206, Nainital 110, Udham Singh Nagar 87, Pauri 39, Almora 32, Tehri 18, Champawat 17, Uttarkashi 14, Rudraprayag 13, Chamoli eight, Bageshwar seven and Pithoragarh four active patients of the disease.

Meanwhile in the ongoing vaccination drive, 2782 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Monday.  In the state 109260 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. A total of 20017 senior citizens (60 Plus) have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state. Similarly 12063 persons in the age group of 45-59 years having co-morbidity have been vaccinated.  

The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 46 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state Monday. In Dehradun 13 vaccine sessions were organised in which 375 senior citizens, 24 people with co-morbidity, 32 healthcare workers and 55 frontline workers were vaccinated on Monday.

Similarly 390 senior citizens, 10 persons with co-morbidity, 14 health care workers and 46 front line workers were vaccinated in eight vaccine sessions in Haridwar district on the day.
