The City Bus Union president Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Central Bureau of Investigation in Delhi, demanding a probe into allegations of alleged corruption against senior officials of the State Transport department. He has claimed that he has also written to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and CBI in Dehradun regarding the matter along with affidavits and proofs.

The officials are indulging in corrupt practices at a high level in the department blatantly violating laws and regulations while neglecting public welfare, claimed Dandriyal. He told The Pioneer that the officials of the regional transport office and other sections of the department have allegedly violated rules to provide stage carriage permits to Tata magic vehicles. He said that the department has put tata magic vehicles under the M2 vehicle category to provide it certain benefits by allegedly going against the rules of the Motor Vehicles Act. He claimed that the officials concerned are twisting rules in order to benefit a certain section of public transport operators depicting the obvious ongoing corruption in the department, said Dandriyal. He said that going against all rules, the department allegedly issued stage carriage permits for these vehicles to operate in the city and the government should probe this matter. “How is the department neglecting the rules of the Central government without any objection from anybody? They are not authorised to do it.

Considering these irregularities, I have written to the PM, CM, Transport ministry and CBI and demanded an inquiry into the matter to make sure that the culprits in the department must get strict punishment. I will continue to raise my voice on the issue till the government takes strict action in the matter,” added Dandriyal.
