U’khand govt to set up music centre in Jaunsar Bawar area

The tourism and culture minister Satpal Maharaj has said that in view of the popularity of music in Jaunsar Bawar region of Dehradun, the state government would set up a music centre in the area. He was speaking in a programme organised to felicitate the people associated with successful holding of the recent Jagda fair of Mahasu Devta, Hanol in Dehradun on Wednesday. He said that land for the music centre would soon be allotted. The minister also directed the officers of his department that a movie on the Fair and the Mahasu devta temple of Hanol should be made. He said that thousands of pilgrims had attended the Jagada fair held on August 30 and 31. He said that the organisers, the members of the temple committee, police, district administration and volunteers played a key role in the successful holding of the fair. Maharaj said that more than five crore pilgrims viewed the fair that was telecast live. The folk singer Karishma Shah and Swati Rohilla enthralled the audience with their performance in the programme. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun D S Kumwar, chairman of the temple committee of Hanol and SDM Saurabh Aswal, Tehsildar of Chakrata Chaman Singh, Nayab Tehsildar and vice president of temple committee J S Negi and others were present on the occasion.
