U’khand Congress demands Rawat’s expulsion from BJP

The Congress party has demanded that the Bharatiya Janata Party should expel former chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from the party for calling the murderer of MK Gandhi a patriot. Interacting with the media persons at the headquarters of State Congress, party leader Manish Khanduri said that the country would not tolerate denigration of ‘father of nation’ MK Gandhi and glorification of his murderer. Terming the statement of Rawat as highly deplorable and unfortunate, Khanduri said that murder of Gandhi on January 30, 1948 was also an attempt to murder the history of India, freedom struggle of the nation and future of the country. It was also an attempt to kill the dignity of the nation. He said that Trivendra Singh Rawat should explain how the murderer of Gandhi can be termed as a patriot. Khanduri said that the people with such a mentality would also call the murderer of Ankita Bhandari a patriot someday.

 The chief spokesperson of State Congress Garima Dasauni said that news reports suggest that China is developing infrastructure and a constructing colony near the Uttarakhand border and in such a situation the government should remain alert. The State shares 345 km long boundary with China and it has intruded 63 times in the past in the Badahoti area, she said. The Congress leader further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had initiated a vibrant village scheme to prevent migration from the border villages but the Rs 4800 crore project is in cold storage now. Launching an assault on the BJP media in-charge of Uttarakhand Manveer Singh Chauhan who had said that the Congress is spreading canards on the issue, Dasauni said that the media reports have shown increased Chinese activity across the border of Uttarakhand. She added that the BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has also said that the Uttarakhand border is not safe.
