Tuesday, 05 September 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

Traffic on many routes will remain diverted in Dehradun due to the Assembly session which is scheduled to commence from Tuesday. The police informed that considering the probable protests and rallies on the routes, barricades will be installed at Pragati Vihar, Shastri Nagar, Haridwar Bypass, Defence Colony and Vidhan Sabha junction. All heavy vehicles will be diverted from Kargi Chowk and Doiwala towards Dudhli Road during the session.

Due to heavy traffic pressure in the Rispana area, heavy vehicles might be partially stopped at Laltappad, Harrawala and Nayagaon. Vehicles going from Dehradun to Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri and Chamoli will be diverted towards Chhe Number Puliya via Nehru Colony and Fountain Chowk. The police informed that the traffic passing through Dharampur Chowk to ISBT will be diverted from the old Bypass Chowki to ISBT via Mata Mandir Road.

Traffic going towards Mussoorie from the Mohkampur route will be diverted to Jogiwala, Raipur Ring Road, Ladpur, Sahastradhara crossing and IT Park to reach Mussoorie. All protest rallies for which permission has been granted will proceed only from Bannu School while the vehicles of the protesters will remain parked on the school premises.

Vehicles arriving from Rispana towards the city will be diverted from the Haridwar Bypass towards Old Bypass Chowki when the rallies move towards the Pragati Vihar barrier. Some other routes can be diverted across the city as per the requirement. The police appealed to commuters to use two-wheelers rather than cars till the Assembly session ends.
