Thunderstorms with intense spells likely in 5 Kumaon districts today

Plains & most of Garhwal likely to witness mostly dry conditions

Most areas in the plains and Garhwal region have been experiencing comparatively hotter and dry conditions for the past few days. The weather is expected to remain the same on Sunday though the meteorological centre has forecast the possibility of light to moderate rain /thunderstorms likely to occur at a few places in the mountainous areas of Kumaon region and at isolated places in the mountains of Garhwal region on Sunday. The meteorological centre has also issued a yellow warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and intense spells of rain likely to occur at isolated places in Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, Almora, Nainital and Champawat districts today.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear to partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain/thundershowers likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 35 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.

Meanwhile there was very light to light rain in some parts of the State on Saturday with nine millimetres in Dehradun, 2.5 millimetres in Sonprayag and trace rain in Mussoorie. The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places on Saturday were 34.2 degrees Celsius and 25.8 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35 degrees Celsius and 25.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 27.1 degrees Celsius and 16.6 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.5 degrees Celsius and 18.7 degrees Celsius in New Tehri.
