The Pioneer & MAD plant fruit & other trees to mark Harela

Trees of various fruit and other species were planted by volunteers to mark the ongoing Harela celebration here on Sunday. The tree saplings were planted as part of an activity organised by The Pioneer in association with student activist group Making a Difference by Being the Difference (MAD). The activity saw enthusiastic participation from the young volunteers who gathered at the plantation site at Tarla Nagal near the Sahastradhara helipad early on Sunday morning. The volunteers and members of The Pioneer team planted saplings of guava, Amla, mango, Amaltas, bottle-brush, Tejpat, bamboo and other varieties on the occasion. It was also decided that the saplings will be periodically checked to ascertain their survival.

The MAD volunteers who participated in the event included Aryan Koli, Darish Malik, Akriti Rawat, Vishaka, Simranjit Singh, Aaryavart Joshi, Yashraj Negi, Hridyaesh Shahi, Archie Bisht, Amogh Negi

Ravinder Karmarkar, Shaurya Kapoor, Sanskriti Malik, Chetna Bhatt, Vikrant Uniyal, Hemant Chauhan, Parth Pant, Mukul Vasudev, Nikhil Narula, Prachi Bisht and Swati Tiwari.

The tree plantation activity was supported by the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Horticulture department.
