Temperature may drop in Doon, dense fog warning issued for plains

After a comparatively warmer Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures in the provisional State capital Dehradun may drop by about four degrees Celsius on Sunday, according to the State meteorological centre. While light rain was experienced in some parts of the State on Saturday, the meteorological centre has forecast that dry weather is likely to prevail in the districts of the State on Sunday while shallow to moderate fog is likely to occur in many parts of the plains. The centre has also issued a warning regarding the possibility of dense fog likely to occur in some parts of plains especially in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Sunday. 

Dehradun is forecast to experience mainly clear skies with mist/fog likely to occur during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 22 degrees Celsius and eight degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various places of the State on Saturday were 26.8 degrees Celsius and 12.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 26.7 degrees Celsius and 10.4 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 15.5 degrees Celsius and 5.5 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar, 16.2 degrees Celsius and 5.4 degrees Celsius respectively in New Tehri. There was 2.6 millimetres rain recorded in New Tehri, 12 millimetres in Jankichatti, 5.5 millimetres in Harshil, four millimetres in Sonprayag and three millimetres in Jakholi.
