Shopkeepers demand NOC for remaining portions of demolished structures

Stating that the administration has targeted several similar shops in various anti-encroachment drives in the past, the members of Doon Udyog Vyapar Mandal (DUVM) demanded the issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the shopkeepers for the remaining portions of their structures in order to prevent any further demolition in the future.

They said that the anti-encroachment drives are being conducted in Dehradun since the year 2005 and the structures of those shops which were demolished in the year 2005 were targeted again in the year 2018 and 2020. Therefore, as per the shopkeepers, they want authorities to issue NOC for the remaining structures of the shops so that these do not get demolished again in future in the name of encroachment.

Moreover, they also demanded authorities to hold an investigation against those who allowed these encroachments in the city rather than just targeting the locals of the city. One of the representatives of DUVM, Siddharth Umesh Agrawal said that they met Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ on Thursday regarding the said demands and suggestions and hope that it will be considered by the management of the corporation. He also added that they have also asked ‘Gama’ to allow the construction of the exterior structures of the demolished shops in the recent drive under the project of Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) free of cost.

Besides, they also asked to postpone the work which will start shortly in Rajpur Road under smart city project till the festive season ends here. The shopkeepers said that they will take these demands to the chief minister too and hopefully the administration will listen to their issues and act on them.
