The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has directed various departments to prioritise the comprehensive development and safety of children. Stating this, the SCPCR chairperson Geeta Khanna informed that there has been an increase in cases of drug addiction and religious conversion in the Vikasnagar area. Additionally, she informed that she recently conducted inspections of various schools and Madarsas where she discovered that there is a lack of proper parking arrangements, posing threats to the safety of students.

The hazardous location of the main school gate, as it opens directly onto the highway, endangers the lives and belongings of the children. She also expressed dismay over the absence of security measures and inadequate planning for safe transportation of the children to and from the institutions. Even in the Madarsas, children were sitting on the ground without any provisions to cater to their needs, disregarding the well-being of the children during the winter season, she added.

The SCPCR chief further said that considering these conditions found in the schools during the inspection, she convened a meeting with the police department, transport department and education department. During the meeting, she instructed the departments to prioritise the safety of children and emphasised the importance of undertaking measures for the holistic development and protection of children.
