Union minister approves proposal for serving State’s dishes on regional flights

The Union Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said that the ministry will fully cooperate in processing the proposal which Uttarakhand sends for building an international airport in the State. He further approved the proposal for serving Uttarakhand’s traditional dishes in the regional flights. The minister said this in response to the State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj who met him in the national Capital.

Maharaj told Scindia that the Himalayan State of Uttarakhand is known across the world for tourism, Yoga and religion. The Char Dham shrines of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri are located here apart from lush green jungles and national parks with a thriving wildlife. An international airport is needed in the State considering its spiritual, historical and strategic importance. He informed the Union minister that a 1,200 hectare area had been identified in one location and another 1,100 hectares had been identified in another location for the proposed international airport.

Scindia informed Maharaj about the entire process for establishment of an international airport and said that the State should apply for it as per the procedure, adding that the State will receive full cooperation in this matter. He also approved the proposal for serving local dishes in regional flights. The minister told Maharaj to make available a list of the State’s traditional dishes so that further action can be taken on it.
