ITBP jawan and porter rescued after 36 hour in cave near Indo-China border

A jawan of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and a porter who had gone missing while patrolling near the Indo-China border were rescued after 36 hours on Saturday. The soldier and porter, who got lost after patrolling with their comrades, spent more than a day in a cave during snowfall in the high altitude region. The rescue team found them 84 kilometres from Munsiyari and brought them to Milam.
A team of ITBP soldiers left from Munsiyari on Thursday to patrol the stretch of the Indo-China border from Pithoragarh to Milam in Kumaon to Malari in Garhwal. ITBP jawan Anil Ram and porter Devendra Singh from Valthi in Munsyari went missing during the patrol. Both of them could not be found anywhere amid heavy snowfall. The rescue team continued searching for them in vain.
The rescue team finally reached them after 36 hours on Saturday morning. According to information received, the duo lost their way due to heavy snowfall in the high altitude region. They spent the night in a cave near Bamras amidst heavy snowfall. Both were rescued and brought to Milam. Sub divisional magsitrate Shrestha Gunsola said that the two men are safe now. The ITBP team conducted the search and rescue operation in an area covered in more than four feet of snow.
