Rain brings relief from heat, more in store today

Rain brought considerable relief from the heat in various mountainous and plain regions of the State including Dehradun early on Tuesday evening. The weather is likely to be rainy in various parts of the State on Wednesday. The State meteorological centre has issued a warning (watch) regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, intense showers and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places especially in the mountains of the State today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain/thunderstorms are likely to occur at a few places in the mountains and very light to light rain/thunderstorms are likely at isolated places in the plains of the State.

The provisional State capital Dehradun is likely to witness partly to generally cloudy skies today with light to moderate rain/thunderstorms likely to occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 37 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Tuesday were 36.8 degrees Celsius and 24.4 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 35.5 degrees Celsius and 26.5 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 21 degrees Celsius and 14.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 26.2 degrees Celsius and 17.4 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. Light to moderate rain was reported in various places including 21.5 millimetres in Lansdowne, 17 millimetres in Satpuli, 13 millimetres in Jolly Grant and 6.5 millimetres in Rishikesh.
