The next few months will be more challenging for effectively bringing Covid-19 under control. All necessary arrangements should be made to tackle this challenge. There has been a drop in Covid cases in the state during the past week but more vigilance needs to be observed at such times. Wearing of masks and social distancing should be observed at all places and constantly monitored to stop the contagion. The sub divisional magistrate and police circle officer should be made responsible for the monitoring. Action should also be taken against the officials concerned if complaints are received from any area. Further, FIR should be lodged against any person spreading misinformation on social media or other media, said the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He said this while chairing a meeting on Covid in which all district magistrates and health department officials were also present via video conference.

The CM stressed that a public awareness campaign should be undertaken through various media to bring Covid effectively under control. Video and audio clips of known personalities should be made for raising awareness on protection from Covid-19. Online essay competitions and other such activities should also be held and prizes should be awarded at the district and state level in such competitions.

Rawat said, “Now relaxation has been provided in various activities. The number of tourists arriving in the state is also rising swiftly. It must be ensured that everybody behaves cordially with the tourists. Further, booths for thermal screening and sample testing should also be set up in tourist spots.”

He further directed that special protective measures be taken against Covid for those with comorbidities and diabetes. Cent per cent sampling of high risk people should be conducted. RT-PCR or TruNAT test should be ensured for all those found symptomatic in antigen test. Health department teams should regularly visit those under home isolation, taking all necessary information and also providing the patients with information on the health kit.

The health secretary Amit Singh Negi said that since the positive rate among the youths is high in Uttarakhand, special focus will have to be laid to control this. People need to be made more aware about immunity boosting substances. Necessary manpower should be arranged in all districts to tackle with Covid during the next six months. Covid care centres, hospitals taking Covid samples and other institutions related to Covid treatment should be incorporated on Google maps, he said.

The director general (Law and Order), Ashok Kumar said that hoardings are being put up in police stations and posts to raise awareness on protection from Covid. With tourism activities increasing swiftly, an effective action plan will be made to ensure crowd control, wearing of masks and social distancing.
