Pollution also responsible for increased Covid deaths in Doon: Dhasmana

The vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana has claimed that one of the major reasons for increased intensity of Covid-19 in Dehradun is the unplanned and large scale digging of roads of the city in the name of smart city works.

Addressing media persons here on Friday, he said that the digging of the city has increased the level of pollution in air and it has affected the patients of asthma and lung diseases. He claimed that pollution caused by smart city project is one of the causes of higher death rate of infected patients of Covid-19 in Dehradun. Launching an attack on the state government the Congress leader said that the state government has failed to control the Covid-19 and the number of Covid patients has crossed 81000 mark and 1341 patients have so far lost their lives. Dhasmana added that to hide its failures and divert the attention of people. Trivendra Singh Rawat government is now talking loudly on vaccine.
“The fact is that the union government has not yet prepared guidelines for vaccination. The number of vaccines to be given to the states is also not decided but the CM of Uttarakhand has announced that vaccination of 20 lakh people would be done in the first phase,’’ he said.
