The police arrested a Ugandan citizen Sanyu Dianah (35) along with a married couple of Dehradun with 16.35 grammes of cocaine. The couple has been identified as Sarthi Sahni (32) and his wife Ritika Sahni (25) who allegedly used to supply cocaine to college students and for big parties via peddlers. Since Ritika used to be a teacher in a reputed school, nobody suspected that her husband had been smuggling cocaine to students for a long time, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. He informed that the police caught all the accused during intensive checking in the Rajpur area on Tuesday. The police recovered 16.35 grammes of cocaine worth more than Rs two lakh from the man, Rs 63,500 cash and battery operated weighing scales. The police also nabbed the Ugandan woman Sanyu Dianah along with Ritika from Mussoorie Road. Singh said that Dianah is a notorious criminal and a member of the Cobra gang which is known to smuggle cocaine from Delhi to sell it to peddlers in Dehradun. This cocaine was later sold to college students and some people who held big parties. The SSP said that Dianah stated during interrogation that she is a citizen of Uganda and came to India in January on a business visa. She is an active member of the Cobra gang and supplies cocaine from Delhi to her agents and peddlers in different parts of the country as per the demand. Dianah claimed that she had come to Dehradun to supply cocaine to the Sahni couple as per their demand. The police have registered a case against all accused at Rajpur police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Singh said that the police had also arrested three Cobra gang members Sarovar Kumar, Tanishk and Prince Raj in the Rajpur area on February 6 with 3.3 grammes of cocaine and 38.45 grammes of smack. The investigation is ongoing, he added.
