The police on Wednesday arrested the man who had urinated outside a temple in Doiwala’s Harrawala area of Dehradun and broke its door reportedly on Monday night. The said incident was captured on a CCTV camera installed outside the temple.

The clip went viral on Tuesday in which a man belonging to a minority community can be seen breaking the door and urinating outside the temple. The priest observed the broken door the next morning and contacted the authorities. This incident also caused rage among the Hindu group who asked the police to arrest the culprit soon.

Fearing disturbance in communal harmony, and law and order, the senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh deployed police personnel near the temple and directed the officials to start the investigation to nab the accused. The police on Wednesday finally arrested the accused identified as Aram Ali, a resident of Patelnagar’s Mehuwala area.

The SSP said that the accused appears to be mentally unstable and is getting treatment in the Selaqui based mental health hospital. He said that the police are getting detailed information on Ali’s medical history to verify these claims. The police will also present him before the court soon. Singh said that the police are investigating the matter and will act accordingly. He appealed to the people to stay calm and refrain from spreading any baseless rumours.
