Considering that many citizens still struggle with the online transport office related work and get overcharged by cyber cafes, the CSC e-Governance Services India Limited has started providing its services on the premises of the regional transport office (RTO) of Dehradun. The regional transport officer (administration) Dinesh Chandra Pathoi informed that the transport department has been getting complaints that many cyber cafes and agents charge higher than the usual amount for simple RTO related works, especially from those who are not well aware of digital platforms. The centre will provide facilities to the public related to the government’s Sarathi software including all main transport office related works besides Aadhaar card associated works at a minimal cost. In addition to the fee fixed by the government for the related service to the applicants, the CSC will charge only Rs 30 extra to the applicants or customers, said the transport officer. Pathoi said that in order to ensure that CSC runs with a clean image among the public and continues to maintain it with time, the department has taken some necessary steps. He said that the department has allowed the operation of the Common Service Centre (CSC) in RTO with certain terms and conditions. He informed that the department will allot the place for the opening of the centre only for one year and the centre will have to apply again for the renewal of its services which will be renewed if the department finds its work satisfactory. CSC will appoint its staff in the centre on its own but the records available in the centre will have to be produced on the demand of the transport officers, stated Pathoi. He said that if the department receives any complaints regarding the operation of the centre or any misconduct, action will be taken after verifying the complaints and accusations.
