NCTE holds National conference on Yoga at SGRR Uni

A national conference on subject ‘Significance of Yoga in development of Teachers and Teacher Education’ was organized by National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), New Delhi at Shri Guru Ram Rai (SGRR) university here on Saturday. This Conference which was organized by the NCTE in association with SGRR university and Gurukul Kangri Deemed university was attended by more than 300 subject specialists from various institutes of North India.

The Vice Chancellor (VC) of SGRR university, U S Rawat in his address welcomed the participants and informed about the various activities and achievements of the department of  Yoga of the university.

 In his address, the Chairperson, NCTE, DP Saklani said in the New Education Policy ( NEP-2020), many significant points have been included and the teachers should understand that instead of imparting education to make clerks out of students, the education must aim to create intellectuals. He said that Yoga is important for every teacher for academic as well as holistic development. Saklani added that Yoga is not just an exercise but is a philosophy to lead life in a positive style. Yoga brings patience and compassion in teachers making them role models of the students. The member Secretary, NCTE, K Y Kesang Sherpa,said that Yoga is a beautiful identity of our country of India.

The VC,  Gurukul Kangri Deemed University, Haridwar, said that the art of Yoga was born by the inspiration of great saint Maharishi Patanjali.

The Director, Academics, Sanskrit Promotion Foundation Chand Kiran Saluja appreciated that Yoga has been included in the New Education Policy. This will aid in better development of education and teachers, he opined.
