In latest news from Uttarakhand, by way of giving fillip to the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s initiative to develop Champawat as a model district, the district administration launched a three-day angling and river rafting competition at the national level on Mahakali river at Chuka in Tanakpur on September 27 marking the World Tourism Day. District sports officers said that 19 teams for angling and 15 teams for rafting from other states and from neighbouring Bangladesh and Nepal are participating in the competition. In addition, four women teams from Real Adventure, Snow Trout Adventure in Tanakpur, BSF and GMVN are also participating in the competition
The elated participants said that Chuka has all the potential to become a popular angling destination. They also said that from the tourism point of view, this region is loaded with immense potential. Further, they appreciated the initiatives of the State government in hosting this national level competition, saying that such initiatives would open new avenues of employment for the local youngsters.
