Saturday, 28 October 2023 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will introduce a portable biometric attendance system in all wards to ensure workers and officials responsible for maintaining sanitation there are working at the ground level. This decision was taken as per the directions of the Uttarakhand High Court, said the Dehradun municipal commissioner Manuj Goyal.

He said that the corporation has started preparations to take the attendance of employees through biometric machines and will soon purchase the machines. He said that to ensure that there is no disruption in the cleaning system in the city, the supervisors of all 100 wards will be given portable biometric machines to enable all sanitation workers to mark their attendance from their work area. He said that these biometric machines will be able to record the attendance of employees by identifying hands as well as faces.

The supervisor will mark the attendance of all sanitation workers in the morning and evening shifts. Goyal said that these machines will be installed in all zonal and section offices of the corporation in which employees will have to register their attendance in the morning and evening. He said that it will be mandatory for all the employees including contractual and outsourced employees to register their attendance through the biometric machine after installation in each ward. Strict action will be taken against those who do not abide by these rules, the commissioner added.
