Emphasising on maintaining sanitation facilities in the public toilets in the city, the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) instructed for taking all the measures while making the necessary changes to improve the condition of public toilets. In view of approaching inspection of Swachh Survekshan 2021, the chief municipal health officer, Dr Kailash Joshi conducted a meeting with the officials of the health section of the corporation. Joshi stated that the corporation has established around 40 public toilets across the city and most of these facilities are being run under Public Private Partnership (PPP). He instructed municipal health inspectors to ensure the cleanliness of such toilets and also ordered them to change the toilet seats and taps as per the requirement. Moreover, he also directed officials to take preventive measures against roadside garbage dumping in Dehradun. Joshi also instructed sanitation workers to complain and take action on the complaints, if the door to door garbage collection service is not being provided regularly in the city. Meanwhile, he also informed that one of the newly selected companies will also start door to door garbage picking service in four more wards from Monday. Joshi asserted that the MCD is taking all the measures to improve sanitation facilities in the city but we also request locals to maintain sanitation in their areas and register complaints if they find any issue regarding sanitation facilities in Dehradun.
