Mayor inaugurates development works worth Rs 2.9 crore

The Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ on Tuesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of development works worth Rs 2.9 crore in four wards of Raipur Vidhan Sabha constituency. These four wards are Badrish Colony, Bhagat Singh Colony, Defence Colony and Vani Vihar. The councillors of these wards were also present during the inauguration of these development works. Addressing people during the inauguration, the mayor said that the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has been working to provide all possible facilities to each citizen of the city since 2018. He said that has worked consistently and earnestly on the development of all wards in the five years. The corporation has carried out development works worth over Rs 350 crore during this time to make the city more efficient for locals. The mayor said that the corporation has been consistently carrying out new development works in each ward to provide them with the best facilities. He said, “To continue the development of the wards, I laid the foundation stones of development works worth crores of rupees which will also play an important role in providing the best facilities to the local people.” The mayor further said that he was determined to provide better facilities to the residents of the city since he took the oath as the city’s mayor in 2018. The corporation has worked quite well regarding sanitation conditions in the city as it has always been the main focus. Dehradun got 384th position in Swachchh Survekshan in 2018 and now the city is in the top 100 cleanest cities of the country by getting 69th position in SS 22 which is a big achievement and shows MCD’s dedication and focus on the city’s cleanliness. The mayor said that the city’s street lights system has also strengthened as MCD has installed 6,000 new electric poles and 65,000 street lights. Talking about sanitation conditions of the city, he said, “We should start cleanliness from our homes. Do not spread garbage in public places, in vacant plots or on roads. One must always dispose of the garbage via garbage collecting vehicle. If we successfully work on these small but effective habits, no one can stop Dehradun from becoming the best municipal corporation in the country.”
