A man allegedly duped the owner of a graveyard of Rs 2.5 lakh to purportedly prevent the Waqf board from taking over the land. Jawalapur police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections on the basis of the complaint by the manager of the cemetery.  According to the information received from the Jwalapur police, an ancestral graveyard of Jamshed Hasan’s son Jamir Hasan of Jamalpur Kala, is located in Shardanagar area of Jwalapur.

Nawab Abbasi, a resident of Idgah Road, approached Jamshed Hasan and told him that his cemetery is going to be acquired by the Waqf board. He claimed that if Hasan paid him Rs 2.5 lakh, he could prevent the graveyard from being acquired by the board. Hasan reportedly paid the sum to the accused to retain the ownership of the land worth crores of rupees. After some time when Hasan went to the Waqf board office and inquired about this, he came to know that the board had not taken any such decision nor was it planning to do so.

When he asked Abbasi for an explanation the accused allegedly started to abuse him. He neither returned the money nor assured of doing so. He allegedly threatened Hasan of dire consequences if he demanded his money back.  Jwalapur police station inspector RK Saklani said that on the basis of the victim’s complaint, a case has been registered against the accused under various sections and the investigation has been started.
