Maharaj advocates tunnels & cement roads in U’khand

Attending the national conclave ‘Manthan’ organised by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways at Bengaluru, Uttarakhand’s Public Works, Tourism and Rural Works minister Satpal Maharaj advocated the construction of cemented roads in the mountains and tunnels in the State.

Expressing his views at the conclave on Thursday, Maharaj said that villages are established above roads in most places in the mountains which poses risks to villages due to vibrations. The minister further said that information about latest technology is being shared in the conclave which will be very useful for Uttarakhand. He also stressed on the need for construction of tunnels in Uttarakhand to enable swifter travel. The minister further said that cemented roads should be constructed in Uttarakhand which will enable continuation of traffic in places which experience snowfall. He also thanked Union minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari for the national conclave and the exchange of ideas between the States it had facilitated.
