The Bageshwar district magistrate Anuradha Pal has ordered a holiday on Wednesday in the government primary school and inter-college in Amsyari area following repeated sightings of a leopard in the area. She has also directed the Forest department to take necessary steps to resolve the threat posed by the big cat.
Locals complain that a leopard is being sighted even during the daytime near the educational institution in the area for some days now. A few days ago, a school girl was also injured by a leopard. The parents are concerned about the safety of their children who are also afraid following the sightings of the big cat. The parents had requested the DM to order a holiday in the school due to the leopard sightings. Pal has acted on the request and also directed necessary action to resolve the issue.
