Kamal Singh Bhakuni of Almora martyred in Manipur

 Kamal Singh Bhakauni (24) , a soldier of Indian Army belonging to Uttarakhand  has attained martyrdom in a Naxalite attack in Manipur. He was a resident of Bunga village in Almora’s Someshwar and had joined the army about four years ago. He was a sepoy in the 16 Kumaon Regiment and was currently posted in Manipur.

The entire village was in shock and grief after getting the news of his death. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also expressed grief over his death. He said that Singh’s departure at a young age is a big loss for the entire Uttarakhand. He wrote on his social media handle, “Hundreds of salutes to the martyr Kamal Singh. May God give a place to his departed soul at its feet and grant immense strength to the bereaved family to bear this loss.” His parents live in the village and do farming. The army gave them the information about their son’s death late on Tuesday.

The mortal remains of the martyr are expected to reach Delhi late on Wednesday and his native village on Thursday where the body will be cremated with the State honours as per protocols.
