Says committed to working towards fulfilling PM Modi’s resolve to double income of farmers

The State’s Agriculture minister Ganesh Joshi assumed charge as the chairman of the National Council of State Agricultural Marketing Boards (COSAMB) in the national Capital on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion after assuming charge, Joshi said that his priority will include focus on the responsibilities of ensuring that the farmers receive proper rates for their produce and that the produce is purchased directly from the farmers. “I am committed to working towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to double the income of farmers,” he said. Joshi further said that the cultivation of cash crops is being encouraged in the mountainous regions. In Uttarakhand, attempts are being made under apple and kiwi missions to establish the State’s identity in the cultivation of apples, kiwis and tea. He said that work will be undertaken to make the Mandis high tech. Efforts will be made to bring all the Mandis under a single roof so that the farmers do not have to move around unnecessarily.

The COSAMB chairman also thanked Prime Minister Narenda Modi and Home minister Amit Shah, stating that a party worker had been given such an important responsibility. “My resolve is to efficiently fulfill this responsibility,” added Joshi.
