Considering the various challenges faced especially by women in the Jaunsar-Bawar region in Dehradun district, women from the region held a meeting on the weekend and decided to form an organisation to ensure proper redressal of their issues.
Women of the region who attended the meeting opined that even though women from the region are educated and working in various government and private institutions, opportunities for their participation in social affairs are still less compared to the opportunities for men. The women stated that instead of approaching male dominated social and other organisations to seek redressal of their issues, it would be better and more effective if the women had their own platform.
It is expected that this will not only help the women establish their own identity but also enable them to facilitate swifter redressal of the issues they face in different spheres. The women have decided to meet again next month in order to finalise details for forming a body which will focus on resolving issues of women.
