HCC to conserve & promote U’khand’s culture: DG Culture

The Himalayan Culture Centre (HCC) reflects the commitment of the State government towards the conservation and promotion of the State’s unique culture, said the secretary and director general of the department of culture Uttarakhand  H C Semwal while addressing the media persons here on Wednesday.

He informed that to make the people aware of the significance of the HCC, the department is set to organise a four-day cultural festival starting from July 7 in Dehradun.  “The state of the art Himalayan Culture Centre will present a vivid and vibrant picture of the rich cultural heritage of the State before the people. This centre will be instrumental in passing on Uttarakhand’s timeless cultural heritage to the future generations,” he said.

The director, department of culture, Uttarakhand Beena Bhatt also addressed the press conference and informed that many eminent film personalities who are originally from Uttarakhand will participate in the festival. “Moreover, there would be a book exhibition involving folk language at the festival,” she said and added that the HCC would showcase the traditional and contemporary arts of Uttarakhand.  

Furthermore, HCC would display the Himalayan artefacts and sculptures collected from across the State.
