The police arrested a man, Deepak Sharma (29) on charges of murdering his wife Pratibha (24) whom he married in February this year. The police have registered a case of dowry death against the man and his family on the complaint of the deceased’s father, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. He informed that the victim’s family reached the Premnagar police station along with the death memo of Pratibha around 3 AM on Monday. Her family accused the husband and his family of allegedly killing Pratibha for dowry. The SSP said that taking immediate cognisance of the matter, a police team reached the government hospital in Premnagar to investigate the matter. The police also questioned the family members and it was revealed that Pratibha and Deepak got married in February but were having frequent disputes and disagreements. They again fought over some issue on Sunday night during which the husband strangled Pratibha to death. The SSP said that the victim’s father has claimed that his daughter was allegedly being tortured by her in- laws including the husband who ultimately killed her. The required proceedings like Panchayatnama were carried out in the presence of officials concerned. The police filed a case and arrested the husband on Monday afternoon. The police have started the investigation and are taking advance action in the case to bring all culprits to justice, he added.
