In latest Uttarakhand news, on hearing the petition filed by a Jaspur resident Nitin Kumar against the encroachment of an important stretch of a road in Jaspur town in Udham Singh Nagar district, the Uttarakhand High Court has directed the municipality Jaspur and the State government to file replies within four weeks. Besides, the court has fixed the next hearing of the case on December 26. Notably, the division bench of the court comprising the Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal heard the petition. According to the petitioner who is a resident of Jaspur Ward No 10, the public road stretching from Chowk Bazar, City Chowk to the Bishnoi Temple in Jaspur has been encroached upon with food stalls being put up in connivance with the municipality officials. Subsequently, as the petition runs, this stretch of the road has become narrow with no space left for one to walk. The petition also stressed that despite several complaints being filed with the municipality, no step had been taken to remove these encroachments from the road. The petitioner appealed to the State HC to order removal of these encroachments.
