The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) will provide orientation training to the faculty members of Uttarakhand’s universities to foster entrepreneurship in the State. This initiative will be organised under the Devbhoomi Udyamita Yojana (DUY), which will commence on June 26 in Ahmedabad. Providing the information, the project officer at DUY Avaneesh Rai informed that EDII has been providing orientation training to faculty members from State universities and Government degree colleges in Uttarakhand since last year following the State government’s directive. To enroll in this training programme, facilitated by EDII in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Higher Education department, teachers are required to register on the online platform. In 2023, a total of 92 teachers received training on entrepreneurship through EDII. The state government’s objective in conducting such training programs is to foster entrepreneurship, start-ups and innovation in higher education institutions, he added.

Rai further informed following the success of last year’s training programme, the EDII will once again collaborate with the State higher education department to provide training to teachers this year also which will be commenced on June 26. Interested faculty members can register on the Devbhoomi Udyamita Yojana portal at www.duy-heduk.org. The training aims to equip teachers with in-depth knowledge of entrepreneurship, enabling them to serve as effective mentors in their colleges, he said.

Rai further highlighted that this year, the target is to train over 90 teachers from Uttarakhand. The programme will be held in three cohorts, the first cohort will take place from June 26 to July 1, the second cohort from July 7 to July 12, and the third cohort from July 14 to July 19 in Ahmedabad. Experts will be invited to provide training to the teachers, which will indirectly benefit the children by establishing a direct connection with the respective teacher regarding entrepreneurship.

“Similar training, albeit different in some aspects, will be provided to the children. After the completion of the admission process in state universities, training on entrepreneurship will also be offered to the students enrolled in these universities,” he said.
