Stating that Gairsain is the summer capital of Uttarakhand in papers only, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP led government of cheating the public and insulting the sentiments of statehood activists. The AAP leader and former spokesman of the party in Garhwal division Ravindra Anand said on Wednesday that it is deplorable how the government is organising the upcoming Assembly session in Dehradun instead of Gairsain. He said that the government appears to be apprehensive to work towards the development of Gairsain and other mountainous areas.
“Making Gairsain the capital was the dream of the statehood activists who sacrificed a lot for this State. However, the government has limited this possibility of making Gairsain a capital in papers only. No minister visits Gairsain. No government related work is done there as it should be in a state capital. The government is not even interested in developing the place,” Anand said. He said that it is unfortunate that not just the BJP but Congress also appeared to be uninterested in Gairsain. About 40 BJP and Congress MLAs signed a letter demanding the assembly session to be held in Dehradun. This move is unfortunate and is against the development of mountains. When the government and Congress are not interested in the development of the State’s summer capital, how will they work for the development of other mountainous districts?AA It shows their incompetence and selfishness, he added.
