Farm laws major step towards doubling farmers’ income- CM

The farm laws introduced by the Central government are a big step towards doubling the income of farmers. By granting the freedom of choice to the farmers, these laws will enable farmers to sell their produce wherever they get better price. Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat said this while virtually addressing a farmers meet in Haridwar on Wednesday.

Rawat said that the farm laws have been made on the basis of the recommendations of the Swaminathan committee and are in the interests of farmers. The laws provide choices to farmers who can sell their produce either in the Mandi or the open market. He stressed that attempts are being made to mislead the farmers regarding MSP whereas in fact the MSP system is not being discontinued. It is not good to mislead the farmers in this case, he said.

“For the economic betterment of farmers, under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi they are being provided Rs 6,000 each per year. Along with this purchase on MSP is also being strengthened consistently. The State government has also taken various measures to double the income of farmers who are free to sell their produce in the Mandi or anywhere else. With consistent communication with farmers their issues are being resolved in the state,” he said.

Rawat further pointed out that sugar mills have paid cent per cent price to sugar cane farmers for their produce. The payment for rice is being made by RTGS to the accounts of farmers within 24 hours of the bill being received. Further, the state government provided a Rs 36 crore guarantee to restart the private sector Iqbalpur sugar mill so that farmers can be paid for their sugar cane. In addition to this, farmers are also being provided upto Rs three lakh interest free loan in the state, added the CM.

Urban Development minister Madan Kaushik, MLAs Yatishwaranand, Pranav Singh ‘Champion’, Deshraj Karnwal, Suresh Rathore, Pradeep Batra, Adesh Chauhan and Sanjay Gupta were also present in the meet.
