Tungnath portals closed for winter

In latest news from Uttarakhand, the portals of the shrine dedicated to Lord Tungnath revered as the Third Kedar were shut amidst religious rituals for the devotees for the next six winter months. Around one and half thousand devotees were present at the shrine before the portals were closed for the winter. The president of the Sri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) Ajendra Ajay said that the shrine had this year recorded a record footfall with over 1, 35,000 devotees having had the darshan of the Lord Tungnath. The shrine was opened to devotees on the closing day in early morning followed by morning puja and darshan. The BKTC media in-charge Harish Gaud said that the procession carrying the idol of Lord Tungnath would reach Makkumath, the summer abode of the Lord, on November 3.
