DM directs officials to ensure enforcement of weekly closure in Dehradun

In view of the violation of Dehradun district administration’s orders to keep all the shops closed on a weekly closure except those providing essential services to contain Covid-19, the Dehradun district magistrate has directed sub-divisional magistrates (SDMs) and city magistrate to ensure the proper implementation of this order.

According to DM Ashish Kumar Srivastava, only essential services like petrol pumps, medical stores, vegetables and fruits shops, and dairies are allowed to operate on the day of the weekly closure but the administration has noticed that many shops operate even on weekly closure in some marketplaces of the district. Srivastava said that everyone in the district will have to abide by the orders of weekly closure. The officials also informed that the days for weekly closure were predetermined in various marketplaces and areas of the district already.

They further informed that the administration will take action against those who will not keep their shops closed on weekly closure under the Uttarakhand Epidemic Diseases Covid-19 Regulations 2020.

DM assured no malls will open on weekly closure, says Vyapar Mandal

The Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava has assured that the rules of weekly closure will be applicable on all the business bodies including shopping malls, big stores and complexes in the district besides the main marketplaces. This was informed by the president of Doon Udyog Vyapar Mandal (DUVM), Vipin Nagalia. Many shopkeepers had expressed their disappointment in the past that while the shopkeepers of the main marketplaces keep their shops closed on weekly closure day as per the orders, big stores and shopping malls do not face any such restrictions from the authorities. According to Nagalia, the representatives of DUVM met the DM on Wednesday and told him that small shopkeepers keep their shops closed on weekly lockdown but most of the big stores and malls remain open which increases the risk of covid contagion. Srivastava assured that implementation of weekly closure will be ensured in all the businesses in the district without any bias, said Nagalia.
