Continuing his practice of visiting the districts and spending the night there, chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reached Mukteshwar on Saturday. Dhami decided to spend the night in Mukteshwar instead of Nainital in order to prevent inconvenience due to VIP movement, to the large number of tourists in Nainital. He viewed the town included in the 13 districts 13 destinations initiative of the state government. Arriving at the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam (KMVN) in Mukteshwar, Dhami visited the Himdarshan point from where he witnessed the broad view of about 300 kilometre long Himalaya range with peaks including the Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nandkot, Nanda Khat, Hathiparvat, Annapurna and Panchachuli. Expressing his views, the CM said that Mukteshwar has been developed well as part of the 13 districts 13 destinations initiative due to which it is becoming a favoured destination not only for domestic but also for international tourists. Works like beautification and development of Mahadev Mandir, Chauli Ki Jali, Mukteshwar Garden, Himdarshan point and Bhalugad waterfall have been undertaken. The old police station building at Saragakhet has been renovated and turned into a handicraft cafe. About Rs 4.16 crore have been spent on developing Mukteshwar, said the CM.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dhami was slated to spend the night in Nainital. However, considering the considerable number of tourists in the lake city, he changed his plan to prevent inconvenience caused by VIP movement and decided to spend the night in Mukteshwar.

Nainital district magistrate Dhiraaj Singh Garbyal, KMVN managing director Vinit Tomar and others were also present on the occasion.
