Dhami resigns, to be caretaker CM till new Govt takes oath

A day after the ruling BJP registered a resounding victory in the Assembly elections, the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami submitted his and his cabinet’s resignation to pave the way for the new government in Uttarakhand.  The CM met the governor Lieutenant General (retd) Gurmit Singh at Raj Bhawan on Friday afternoon and submitted his resignation. He was accompanied by his cabinet colleagues Satpal Maharaj, Arvind Pandey, Swami Yatishwaranand and Ganesh Joshi. The governor accepted the resignation of the CM and asked him to continue as the caretaker CM till the new CM takes the oath of office.

Earlier in the day the CM Dhami chaired a meeting of his cabinet in the state secretariat. In the meeting the cabinet thanked the people of the state for reposing faith in the policies and programmes of the BJP. The CM said that the party has achieved success under the efficient guidance and able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the Uttarakhand stands indebted to the PM Modi and the government of India for starting Char Dham rail network, All Weather road, Kedarnath reconstruction and Bharat Mala project and approving projects worth Rs One lakh crore in the state.

 Dhami added that with the blessings of PM Modi the BJP government in the state would fulfil his dream of making Uttarakhand a model state of the country.
