Ahead of the meeting to be held by Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday to prepare for the counting of votes polled in the Assembly elections, the party leaders remained busy in discussions. With the arrival of BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and his meeting with former CM and MP Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, sources stated that discussions among party leaders continued till the night. Meanwhile, the party’s Badrinath MLA Mahendra Bhatt claimed that various leaders and Assembly candidates of the Congress were in contact with the BJP. Talking to media persons, the BJP leader averred that the BJP is confident of securing a majority in the elections. At the same time, many leaders and candidates of the Congress are also in touch with the party, he added.

The BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan opined that senior Congress leader Harish Rawat and Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal are afraid of the poll results which is why they are raising questions on postal ballots. Anticipating its defeat, the Congress is now looking for excuses. Due to the factionalism in the Congress many of its leaders are feeling insecure. However, the excuses its leaders are searching for will make no difference, added the BJP state media in-charge.

It is pertinent to mention here that the BJP is also holding a meeting to prepare for the counting of votes to be held on March 10. The party’s state election in-charge and Union minister Pralhad Joshi will also be present in this meeting. The meeting will be held at a local hotel to discuss preparations for the day of vote counting. All MPs, state office bearers, Assembly candidates and other office bearers have been invited to attend this meeting.
