Court grants conditional bail to Bobby Panwar and six others

The court of chief judicial magistrate on Wednesday finally granted bail to the president of Uttarakhand Berojgar Sangh, Bobby Panwar and six others who were arrested by the police on February 9 for stone pelting. The officials informed that the court granted the bail to each accused after a week on a personal bond of Rs 30,000 each.

As per the court’s conditions of granting bail, the accused would not make any efforts to tamper with any evidence and witness or use acts of intimidation against any person or police personnel. They will have to cooperate with the police in the investigation and would not participate in any activity causing violence. They were also directed to submit an undertaking in court stating they would not participate in any violent agitation and would not involve in any activity that can potentially damage government properties. 

The court has also asked them to not stage protests in public places without seeking prior permission from authorities concerned. Panwar along with 12 others were arrested by the police on February 9 for allegedly pelting stones on police personnel and causing public nuisance during their protest against the state government demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into irregularities in various recruitment examinations conducted by Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UKSSSC) and Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC). Six arrested accused were granted bail on February 11 while the remaining got bail on Wednesday.
