In latest news from Dehradun, the lingering suspense over who would take on the saffron rivals in the two seats-Haridwar and Nainital- for the Congress is likely to end. As per the party insiders, the party brass is set to name the two candidates after Rahul Gandhi’s return to Delhi from Mumbai on completion of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Notably, the party had named candidates for three seats-Pauri Garhwal, Tehri and Almora – last week.

While the party veteran Harish Rawat is batting for ticket to be given to his son Virendra Rawat, the State party chief Karan Mahara is also eyeing the same seat. For the Nainital seat too, there is a number of aspirants, including the leader of the opposition in the assembly Yashpal Arya and Bhuwan Kapri.
