Remain prepared for ULB elections: Minister to municipal bodies

 The finance and urban development minister Premchand Agarwal has asked the officers of the municipal bodies to remained prepared for the elections of the Urban Local Bodies. The minister also directed that the announcements made by the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami should implement on ground. He presided over a meeting of the officers of the municipal bodies at Vidhan Sabha auditorium on Saturday.

In the meeting the minister reviewed the progress of the schemes under the 15th finance commission, fifth state finance commission and centrally sponsored schemes. Agarwal reviewed the progress of the PM Swanidhi scheme and PM Awas Yojana in the meeting. Interacting with the executive officers (EO) of Tehri, Pauri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Rudraprayag, the minister directed that the door to door collection of garbage, segregation, legacy waste and solid waste disposal should be done properly. The Minister also sought information about the self employment programmes under the Deendayal Antyodaya mission.

He directed that the number of self help groups in the municipal bodies should be increased so that encouragement to local products is given. Agarwal said that the Women Self Help groups are making very good products and the department has entered into an agreement with the companies such as Amazon and Flipcart for their marketing. The agreement will help in provdiong market to the produce of the women SHGs.  The minister directed the EOs to prepare DPRs of the development works to be undertaken in their areas and said that efforts are being made to ensure that there is no paucity of funds for development works. He expressed his displeasure at the absence of some officers in the meeting and said that laxity will not be tolerated in development works. On a stern note the minister said that the officers should ensure quality in the construction works.
